15 Weeks

Fifteen weeks! Man! I just can't believe it's been that long since this precious bright eyed little baby was set on my chest for the first time. Just typing that sentence made me get a little choked up. I can't tell if I still have weird new mom hormones kicking, or if becoming a mom just makes you more emotional period. I had to fight back tears watching "The Office" last week. Today I'm catching up on Glee and have almost cried about 5 times, and I shed a few watching "Bethenny Ever After" earlier. So what is it, moms? Is this just what I am now? An emotional human being? I used to never cry. My husband has even referred to me as "Ice Princess" on more than one occasion. I guess I need to start carrying tissues with me and work on my hideous cry face if it's going to come out in public. Speaking of cry faces, sometimes Finley will be in a deep sleep and all of the sudden she will wake up with the saddest frowning cry face and cry the saddest little cry. Hooper and I refer to this as her having a bad dream, because once we talk to her and get her to focus on us, she stops. It's so weird, but so so sad. Hooper put together her Jumperoo a few nights ago and man, does she love that thing! She isn't tall enough to touch the ground yet, so we put a puffy pillow under her feet and she goes to town! She squeals and laughs and bounces all around. Next week we go back to the specialist to check her hips and I'm hoping that he's going to tell us that she can go without the harness all the time now. The week after that, we go for Fin's 4 month check up! I can't believe that! I am DREADING the shots. :( It's very hard for me to look at my little baby screaming and looking up at me like, "Why are you letting this happen to me?!?!" The past week two things have changed. One being that she rubs her eyes when she is tired now. :) It is adorable. The second thing is that she can put a lot of weight on her legs now. She loves to "stand" up. She especially loves to stand with Papa (my dad). He calls her Dancing Girl and she just squeals and dances and stands and laughs with him. I think that she has realized the whole cause and effect thing with my dad. She does something and makes him laugh and she enjoys that he's laughing, so she does it again. And again. And again. She is getting really good at grabbing things, and I am really impressed with her improvement of her motor skills over the past week. Normally I can't really tell much of a difference with things in one week, but this past week she has made progress! She still isn't that strong with tummy time though. But we are working on it. :) I can't remember if I've mentioned in my blog that she has clogged tear ducts. We have tried 3 different medications and nothing works. The doctor said that more than likely when she is 6 months old she will have to have a little procedure to unclog them. :( The photos from this week aren't very good, but at least I remembered to take them. Oh! I almost forgot to talk about Easter. We had a great Easter in the Hooper and Roe households.

Finley got a great Easter basket and she LOVES every item that was in it. The past several weeks she has enjoyed chewing on everything she can et her hands on (including a live baby chick!). We went ahead and got her a teething ring and she really likes it! We also got her a glowing seahorse that plays music and ocean sounds and it has become her new favorite toy!
One of the clients at work seriously had this conversation with me:
Her: "Chelsea when are you having that baby? Is it in April?"
Me: "I had her in January."
Her: "What?? You're kidding me aren't you?"
Me: "No. I had her in January."
Her a few minutes later: "You are kidding me aren't you?"
Me: "No I promise."
Can you BELIEVE that?! That would mean that I am 9 months pregnant right now! I swear, some people don't think before they speak. It was really offensive. But a different client was totally shocked that I had a baby. He said I never looked pregnant and I "certainly don't look as it I just had a baby". Then he gave me $20 to go get her something nice. :) He quickly became my favorite client. In other news, Hooper and I ordered new bedroom furniture two months ago and it finally came this week! We are LOVING it!

I am very happy with the furniture and I adore the new bedding from West Elm. I'm a little irritated at Ashley Furniture for not telling me that it would be two months before my delivery would come, but I'm getting over it. I am not holding the same grudge against them as I am that rude client.

I hope to blog again next week!
