Whoops! I took way too long of a break between blogs. I'll just sum up the past four weeks quickly. Finley starting rolling over at 18 1/2 weeks from back to front. That is the hardest of the two rolling over positions. We hadn't seen her successfully roll over either way until she did it from back to front though. The thing is, tummy time is extremely hard when she wears that dang harness. I know that she was down to nights and naps so we should have done tummy time when it was off of her but the truth is, tummy time is hard to schedule because we have hard floors everywhere but the bedrooms, and we dont hang out on our bedroom floors very often. But my super baby rolled over anyway. With no practice and hardly any tummy time under her belt. Since then she has rolled over in both positions. At 19 1/2 weeks we were at dinner and I set her bottle on the table in front of us while she was on my lap. I looked down to see her reaching for her bottle so I scooted closer to it. She grabbed it and put it in her mouth. She can't quite hold it up enough to feed herself yet, but we are getting there. At 20 weeks we went to her recheck at her Orthopedist. We did an x-ray of her little hips and then waited for the doctor to come in and let us know how things looked. He walked right in and said that she looked great and that if his exam went well, we could "trash that thing" (referring to her harness). Well, the exam went great and she doesn't have to wear her harness anymore! That was the news we prayed for. The best part about that news is that her hips are forming correctly and all is well in that department. The next best thing about it is that we don't have to mess with that stinky thing anymore. And also, she can now wear pajamas! We were having to just put onesies on her with the harness because the pants shouldn't really be worn with the harness on top of them. (After her appointment we went to Old Navy and got her two cute pajama sets.) The only downside to no harness is that she is now rolling over and that harness kept her pretty much secure on her back at night. Now she can wiggle all over the place and it scares a Mama! But we'll take the trade for sure! In case anyone is wondering or if I wonder when I have my next child, Finley is eating 4 ounces per feeding when we feed her bottles. Most babies her age eat around 6 ounces I believe, but she just doesn't ever want more. This works out well for me because of my pumping issues. I really only make enough for her to have tomorrow's feedings. Sometimes, on a good day, I'll get to freeze a bag. If she moves up to more ounces per feeding I don't know if I can keep up. Maybe my body will kick it into high gear and make more for her, but who knows? Right now she and I have it all worked out perfectly for her feedings and things are going well. Sure I'd love to be storing up months and months of milk, but that just wasn't in my cards. Finley does eat some formula every now and then and she is starting to accept it a little more now. One of the main reasons I haven't stopped breast feeding yet is because she hated formula so much. If she will start eating it as good as she does my milk then I'll be more tempted to stop. Another reason that I have a hard time stopping is 90% of the time it puts her to sleep at night. My initial breast feeding goal was to just do it. Then I set a goal to make it through the painful times I was having the first few weeks. Then when it didn't hurt anymore I wanted to do it for 3 months. Then that goal became 6 months. Well Sunday she'll be 5 months so we'll see if I reach that goal and if I make a new one.
